The Noida International Airport, commonly known as Jewar Airport, is nearing completion and is scheduled to commence regular operations on April 17, 2025.
The airport is set to become one of the largest in Asia, aiming to alleviate congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by handling an initial 12 million passengers annually.
As of early March 2025, several key developments have taken place:
-
Construction Progress: Terminal construction is nearing completion, with flooring, escalators, and roofing in progress.
-
Flight Operations: Ticket bookings are expected to open in February 2025, with full-scale operations scheduled to start in April 2025.
-
Regulatory Approvals: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) was scheduled to publish the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) for the airport on March 7, 2025. However, this has been delayed due to pending work at the airport. The AIP is essential for the airport to be officially recognized in global aviation records, enabling processes like ticketing and flight scheduling to commence.
Despite these challenges, the airport is progressing towards its planned inauguration, with stakeholders optimistic about its role in enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.
